Urė Ylberi
            Pėr Nancy Limprecht

Lodhur mbi bar kryet mbėshteti
Buzė liqenit Joseph Limprechti
E nė gjumė u vu njė zanė.
Shtangėn bedhat nė Lurė kur pane
Oazet-sy plot me lot,
Piskamėn mallet tej e mbanė:
-O mik, je yni jetė e mot.
Kjo tokė legjendash Ty tė priti,--
Balsam buzqeshje qė shėron.
Ti urė—ylbėr mbi brigje shpirti
Ku malli mallin pėrqafon.
Nė ēast tė mbarė nė vegim
Ē’Statujė Lirir…, Vėlla i madh
T’u shfaq pishtari me shkėlqim
Dritėn qė hedh terrin e zbardh.
Do ikin ditėt, muajt, vitet,
Ti I gjallė mbetesh pėr ne
Ashtu siē rrojnė tė gjalla mitet
Edhe gojnajat tek ky dhe.

Rainbow Bridge
            For Nancy Limprecht
The grassy verge
Of a lake that was to bear his name
Supported the tired head of Joseph Limprecht.
Gone his intellect
As life itself was put to sleep
And all nature moaned a dirge.
The fir trees of Lura shuddered
Her lakes, eyes filled with tears,
Her mountains, denying our loss thundered,
Friend! Now you are ours for all the years!
This land of legend awaits you where
The mountains embrace
The rainbow bridge will lead you there
The balsam’s balm anoint your face.
Your vision, dearest brother,
Is our Statue of Liberty:
Its shining torch the light we will not smother;
It scatters darkness so that we can see.
Days, months, and years will end
But we will have you with,
Our brother, counselor, friend,
Whose life’s become our myth.
